Poised Taupe: Sherwin-Williams 2017 Color of the Year

Sherwin-Williams, one of the largest building materials companies in America, just announced its 2017 color of the year. The company is widely known for its line of paints and coatings, and has selected Poised Taupe SW 6039 to be its trendsetting shade for 2017.

While Pantone selected Greenery for its 2017 color to create recharge and energize everyone after a stressful year, Sherwin-Williams took a different approach to the same situation. They handpicked Poised Taupe to relax people from their 2016 hardships. The company wrote:

“Our story of taupe is simple. Earthen brown combines with conservative grey and the result is a weathered, woodsy and complex neutral that celebrates the imperfections and authenticity of a well-lived life.”

Sherwin-Williams believes Poised Taupe will create a cozy sanctuary in one’s home, inspiring positivity. The shade will influence everyone to embrace imperfection.

Bonus

Sherwin-Williams’s Poised Taupe goes well with Pantone’s Greenery. While Greenery is a bright, peppy color, when paired with Poised Taupe it becomes softer while still making a statement. Poised Taupe provides balance to Greenery, and a better sense of balance is what we need in 2017.
